Ray was born into a musical family. At an early age, Ray took an interest in all things keyboard. He began professionally studying the organ at age 7 with the piano following shortly behind. While in high school, he began listening to Rick Wakeman, Lyle Mays and Keith Emerson… it was these players that charged his interest in the modern synthesizer.

During his college years, Ray played professionally with many bands and ensembles. This is also when he began to absorb musical influences from styles as diverse as classical, alternative rock and contemporary jazz. His interest in the hi-tech world of computer music and his love for all things technical ultimately led to a degree in electrical engineering.

Ray’s software experience, keen audio editing abilities and love for strange and unusual sounds, made sound design a natural skill set to develop. From the fantastic and bizarre to extremely realistic, Ray’s work began attracting attention.

Armed with a solid musical background, sound design skills and a technical degree, Ray joined forces with his brother Scott at Gainar Creative Music, offering original music composition and professional audio services.

Ray is an active member of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), Game Audio Network Guild (GANG) and the International Alliance of Composers (IAC). He lives with his wife in Pittsburgh, PA
